PC Hills, aged 36, who was a uniform patrol officer based at Weetwood Police Station, in Leeds was
seriously injured in a road traffic collision, in Bayton Lane, Yeadon. He was taken to hospital but
his injuries proved fatal.

PC Hills joined West Yorkshire Police in June 2003. He lived in the Leeds area with his partner and
two children - a son, aged seven, and a daughter, aged two.

Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Howard Crowther said: "Conal was out in the early
hours of the morning doing his duty as a police officer responding to a call from a member of the
public, and unfortunately there has been a tragic accident. I knew him as someone who had a really
pleasant nature to him and was a well-liked officer who really enjoyed working in this area. His
death is a tragedy not only for his family but also for his colleagues in the Division and the Force
as a whole. Our thoughts are with his family at this time. Conal was one of life’s good guys.?

Conal left this world peacefully November 19, 2006, sadly gone and loved eternally by Ruth, Tom and

Karen McAnaney (passer-by) December 7, 2006

Deepest condolences to Ruth, Tom and Ella. You spoke about them all with endearment and love. all the time. Even when you had a cold you would come to work with a smile wthat had such endearment and say '' That's what happens when you have children, I don't mind''....Smile on your face still remaining. Then you would speak about Ruth and the children. With the smile still there, regardless of what we were doing at work. No matter what the situation at work and what we were dealing with, whenever you thought of Ruth and the children your eye's would light up......I now look up at the sky, see the brightess, shinest star and I know that it's your eye's sparkling over Ruth, Tom and Ella.

You were an abosolute gentleman. You had time for the public and colleagues. No matter what, you would listen and give advice. No matter how long it took. As they say, only the good die young.

You will always be with us in mind body and spirit. I will take what I have learnt from working with you and use it during my service. That way I know I am doing it the right way and I also know I will be making you proud. I am sure you are looking down now thinking how laid back I have become already!...You always told me to!

I will never forget you. Thank you for everything. From your colleagues and from the public who appreciated everthing you have done, you could see it in their face and eye's after you had spoken to them. They knew they had one of the best!

Save me the fish and chips hey....I will be there one day to get them. You know how I like them!...RIP Chuck! xx

A tragic loss of a good friend

Conal, I have many good memories of our friendship over the years, I always looked forward to seeing you and you'll be sadly missed. I remember you being so happy when you became a policeman - it seems so cruel to die from an accident doing the job you loved so much.
RIP Conal, you'll always be remembered, and our thoughts are with you and your family. Love from Luke and Sally.
